2022 Ford Expedition Price and Specs | Hixson, TN

2022 Ford Expedition

Serving Hixson, TN, Chattanooga, Cleveland, and surrounding areas

The 2022 Ford Expedition continues Ford's tradition of providing the public with full-size, family-friendly, four-door, truck-style SUVs. The Expedition line started in 1997, but innovations and upgrades over the years have made new models an excellent alternative to mini- and full-size vans and other more expensive, non-Ford SUVs. The 2022 Expedition options offer three rows of seating standard, a smooth ride even in off-road environments with some upgrade options and all of the space and conveniences that a family or group might need on long trips.

The 2022 Ford Expedition is available in XL STX, XLT, XLT Max, Timberline, Limited, Limited Max, King Ranch, King Ranch Max, Texas Edition, Stealth, Stealth Performance, Platinum and Platinum Max options. Ford provides base options of Forged Green and Agate Black exterior colors. Buyers can select other colors for an additional price, including Dark Matter, Infinite Blue, Stone Blue, Rapid Red and Star White. Ford made minimal exterior changes as compared to 2021. They added new trim LED headlights standard and a new grille for Platinum trim editions. These additions when combined with all features and changes, recent automobile material, manufacturing and supply disruptions and increased automobile demand make the MSRP range reasonable and surprisingly affordable.

Performance

All 2022 Expeditions come with a twin-turbo EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6 engine that provides almost the same level of power as an F-150 truck. They feature a 10-speed automatic transmission that a buyer can customize with rear-only or all-wheel drive. The standard engine offers 375 horsepower. These and all of the models can successfully handle a maximum tow rating of 9,300 pounds. Other models and editions offer more powerful engines that feature 400 or more horsepower. Although the Expedition handles well, only certain models, such as Timberline, provide the necessary support for steady off-road handling. The new Timberline package comes standard with a lighter frame, increased ground clearance, an undercarriage skid plate and 33-inch all-terrain wheels. It also offers "Ford Trail Control" designed to make control and handling of the Expedition on steep grades and rough or uneven terrains easier through the braking and throttle systems. While fuel efficiency ranks at only approximately 27 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles per gallon on highways.

Interior and Technology

All Ford 2022 Expedition models come with a standard dashboard similar to recent F-150 dashboards. The spacious interior offers different materials and trim depending on customization. Limited editions, for example, offer leather trimmed basic seats while Platinum offers all leather massage seats. Up to eight people can enjoy three rows of comfortable cushioned seating and extra leg room no matter the customization. The second and third rows of seats also fold down flat to create more cargo space for a total of 104.6 cubic feet max. A buyer can also customize the interior with Ford's Panoramic Vista Roof that features two large panels to allow light and air through the roof above the first and second rows of seats. There's even an optional power sunshade.

The 2022 Ford Expedition comes with a standard 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo system and 12.0-inch touchscreen. Buyers can upgrade to a 22-speaker system and a portrait-style 15.5-inch touchscreen. All models come with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go that slows and stops the vehicle, if necessary, and monitors speed signs to alter speed on highways accordingly. Platinum also comes with Ford's hands-free BlueCruise highway driving technology. On these models, drivers don't have to use their hands when driving on 130,000 miles of roads in North America in what Ford refers to as "Hands-Free Blue Zones." The dashboard lights up to notify a driver if they're in one of these areas. 2022 Ford Expeditions also feature Co-Pilot360 Technology with a rear backup camera and extensive safety features. For infotainment purposes, Ford offers Sync4 software that works with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a subscription Wi-Fi hotspot.

Safety

Ford has taken a very protective approach to safety with the 2022 Expedition. All models meet four of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's standard safety features. They offer forward collision and lane departure warnings, crash imminent braking and dynamic brake support. Drivers and passengers benefit from a wide range of built-in safety measures, such as Ford's Pre-Collision Assist that scans for obstacles and brakes automatically if the driver doesn't respond; Evasive Steering Assist that alerts the driver of a potential collision and provides extra support when they steer away from an obstacle; Reverse Brake Assist that alerts the driver about stationary or moving objects behind the vehicle when backing up and Active Park Assist 2.0 that helps the driver with standard and parallel parking. Timberline also offers a Trail Turn Assist feature that helps a driver turn on soft surfaces or while in four-wheel mode. The NHTSA tested the 2022 Expedition and gave it four out of five stars for rollover risk and five out of five stars for side and rear crashes.
